I was watching the movie “Coach Carter” last night and there was a part in the movie where a student recites a quote that was so beautiful and moving I had to share it. I “Googled” it to discover the author to be Marianne Williamson.  Here it is:

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”

This inspiring quote, Our Deepest Fear by Marianne Williamson is from her book, A Return to Love: Reflections on the Principles of a Course in Miracles, Harper Collins, 1992. From Chapter 7, Section 3 (Pg. 190-191).

A Different Perspective About True Love:

An old woman sat on the antique rattan rocking chair. Her eyeglasses were perched precariously on her nose as she concentrated on her sewing chores. A gentle breeze swept the wisp of whitish hair on her temples.

Beside her sat her teenage granddaughter. She was like a fresh flower recently bloomed. Without warning she suddenly blurted out. “Grandma, why is true love so difficult to find?”

The old woman with a kindly face stopped sewing and touched her granddaughter’s head affectionately. After a moment, the young girl cuddled closer resting her head on the old woman’s lap. “Listen and I will tell you why,” began the grandmother.

“Many centuries ago, when the world was young, true love existed everywhere. It was available for asking. Because of this, men and women took true love for granted, so God decided to keep true love.” She stopped and smiled as she gently stroke the young girl’s soft tresses.

“God asked a pair of angels to keep true love. First, they buried true love in the ground. But man and woman easily dug it out. Next, the angels took true love to the highest mountains. But again man and woman easily climbed to the top. Then the angels submerged true love into the deepest sea. Man and woman swam to the bottom of the body of water and with ease retrieved true love.”

“So true love is easy to find,” commented the young girl.

“For man and woman will dig, climb and, swim.”

“Yes, but finally the angels kept true love in the hearts of man and woman. Since then people have had difficulty searching for true love. For they look everywhere except in the one place that should keep it – the heart.”

As a holistic, integrated energy therapy (IET) practitioner this topic is appreciated. I just read an inspiring account in Norma Gentile’s newsletter http://www.healingchants.com about healing and service.

One of the reasons I do not ask clients to voice their ailments but rather their intentions is to get closer to spirit. As mentioned in the link above, “fixing” thwarts the path of another. I always let the client spirit lead the way. Root causes that are gently tapped into often allow for the gentle and easy unfolding of issues that may have manifested physical symptoms, addictions or intense behaviors.

Reawakening the roots by clearing imprints and energies allows the natural way to unfold. It is not always necessary to have a “fix”. But usually it finds its own way.

Lenado, CO October 2009 – My husband set off a few weeks ago on his long anticipated Native American Vision Quest. Before he left, I watched him measure and cut 405 pieces of colorful cloth, pinch 405 clumps of tobacco, pray 405 separate times and string 405 prayer ties together; a common ritual prior to this vision quest. I watched him eliminate his cup of coffee, his sweet treat before bed, and his daily news fix. I watched him pack his bag, load his truck and drive away.

Even now I am moved to tears as I think of his unbelievable strength and sacrifice.

This was Danny’s first Native American vision quest and my first time supporting a “questor”. I have to say it is on my list of the top five things I’ve witnessed another human being endure and accomplish.

At this present moment, traditional sentences and complete thoughts can not come close to conveying my level of appreciation for my husband and his chosen spiritual path. Because of this, I have decided to write about the moment, I first saw him and the other vision quest participants after their four days of solitude and fasting, in phrases that make sense to me:

Drums pounding
Voices chanting
Flute singing

They’re almost home!

Sun shining
Wind whispering
Leaves falling

Liz Gracia Conscious Student of the Law of Attraction

To begin I am sharing a very simple story about the law of attraction and manifestation as it just occurred the other day. As simple and “coincidental” as it is, I am noticing a pattern in what the law of attraction suggests and my many “law of attraction” manifestations.

I was speaking to a new male friend; I’ll call him Joe, the other evening. We were discussing his first date with a friend of mine, I’ll call her Sally.

The three of us all met together at an art gallery open house. I saw immediately that “Joe” was very smitten with “Sally”. We all had a great time getting to know each other and we all really enjoyed Joe’s liveliness and good natured way. We’re all becoming good friends now.

I was on the phone with “Joe” discussing his first date with “Sally”. He spoke very warmly about her and genuinely feels that “Sally” is one of the sweetest women he has ever met. He then said, very innocently and happily that, “She is a Lollipop!”

The way he said it just made me laugh and smile because it was so endearing for him to say such a thing in such a sincerely adorable way. If “Sally” could have heard the way he said it, she would have been truly moved and would have felt wholly appreciated. I told him I want someone to call me a “Lollipop” like that some day!……..

So, the next day I need to go to the bank to make a deposit of a bunch of coins. I have to go in to the bank to see a teller as I can’t feed the coins through an ATM machine and I can’t shoot it through a canister with the drive thru tellers. It could hurt someone!?!

I almost NEVER go in to a bank! Maybe once a year if THAT!?!

I go to the teller and sitting on the counter at her window is a fish bowl full of “Lollipops”! And they were actually lollipops with the brand name “Lollipop” on the wrapper.

I took one. Enjoyed it. And did not realize until some time down the road while I was sucking on the lollipop, that I asked for it and I got it! Life, the Universe, God, whatever you want to call it showed up, in its own way to call me a “Lollipop”! And it happened pretty darn quickly!

So, granted this type of thing is going on around you all the time, but are you stopping to pay attention? Are you considering how something shows up for you? Do you realize this is a law of attraction confidence booster? If not, and you care to be the conscious creator of your own life, then start paying attention. Here are some simple yet consistent patterns of creation I am finding to be true for me:

The more sincerely light hearted and genuinely appreciative of something that I am, the more likely it shows up…and some times very quickly!

When something shows up, I smile, I say, “Thank You (with a wink)” and I reinforce my knowing that I AM the CREATOR of my own life. To an extent, I’ve been “Living by Default” so to speak, for more than 40 years, so I’m still practicing the art of conscious, deliberate creation. But the evidence of the Law of Attraction synchronicity and manifestations is showing up more clearly all the time; now that I have turned my focus and conscious attention to that which I DO WANT in my life!

I have some great and seemingly miraculous (to some) stories to share about the Law of Attraction synchronicity and manifestations. And they are coming… I just wanted to start off with a very recent and quite simple example of this.

Many people poo-poo seemingly small coincidents and synchronicities like these (I used to be one of them). But when you appreciate that, “It’s as easy to create a castle as a button. It’s just whether you’re focused on a castle or a button”, you (I) realize that “castle” you (I) have been focused on is not far off!

If you care to live life deliberately and with your powerful intent, I’d recommend paying attention to these and see what you see. Start playing with it! You eventually will (or won’t) “get it”! Then your life becomes more free, allowing and FUN!

“Plant Yours Today!”

Peace. It’s about slowing down and loving what is… a Be Here Now state of being:

“When you wake up in the morning, Pooh,” said Piglet at last, “what’s the first thing you say to yourself?”

What’s for breakfast?” said Pooh. “What do you say, Piglet?”

“I say, I wonder what’s going to happen exciting today?” said Piglet.

Pooh nodded thoughtfully.

It’s the same thing,” he said.

Like everything else in our lives, peace is a state of being we can choose. It is felt as a present-moment awareness. In harder times, peace might be something we must choose with each in-breath, focusing on it, choosing it. In easier, more joy-full times, the feeling of peace might reside deep within our cells, and if we are paying attention, we can choose to appreciate this sense of peace.

Peace is soft, yielding, flowing, like water, like the slow and gentle movements of tai chi, like the sleeping face of a beloved. It is in the blowing of a breeze, the sound of the wind in the trees, the orange pop! in late spring of the poppies. It is as simple as that– as noticing our surroundings, as having faith that all is well, as taking comfort in the “is-ness” of the moment.

Equanimity is felt as an acceptance of the moment—first, simplicity comes in when we simply notice what is and equanimity comes afterward, when we love what is. Loving what is… how much freedom we would feel—how much freedom we would actually have—if only we loved whatever presented itself, knowing that it is all just perfect. And isn’t freedom felt as peace?

We can only be at peace with others as we are peace-full with ourselves. So, make peace with your Self– know your true nature and accept yourself as you are, both shadow and light. Know that you can never know the effects of your words and deeds on another’s heart, no matter how small or seemingly insignificant they seem to you.

“Let’s go and see everybody,” said Pooh. Because when you’ve been walking in the wind for miles, and you suddenly go into somebody’s house, and he says, ‘Hallo, Pooh, you’re just in time for a little smackerel of something,’ and you are, then it’s what I call a Friendly Day.”

Piglet thought that they ought to have a Reason for going to see everybody, like Looking for Small or Organizing an Expotition, if Pooh could think of something.
Pooh could.

“We’ll go because it’s Thursday,” he said, “and we’ll got to wish everybody a Very Happy Thursday. Come on, Piglet.”

Over the past nine months, my growth has come not in spurts, but in explosions, and my growing pains have not been gentle nudges, but knock-me-over blows. Interestingly, I don’t think I am unique in my experience. Today many of us are being asked to remember who we really are at quantum speeds in order for our world to evolve. However, our journeys are individual and what we learn along the way is dependent upon our own perspectives.

When I thought about how to capture in words nine months of learning and spiritual growth, the task seemed daunting. I have learned so much that I couldn’t imagine condensing it into a few paragraphs. But, I chose to reframe my thinking and look at it as an opportunity to encapsulate for myself and the reader, what took me hours, days, weeks, and months to figure out.

The number nine seems significant to me. Numerology sees the number nine as reflective of universal love. Similary, my nine month journey has been, for me, about dropping old patterns, old ways of being, in order to connect more with the power of universal love. I had to learn how to love myself, so that my connection with others could become stronger.

Here are the nine learnings that have found their way into my knowing over the past nine months. My hope is that one will resonate with you as well.

Learning #1
My physical body is a reflection of my spiritual and emotional body.

Learning #2
In order to move forward on my path, I have to embrace my past, understand its significance in my life today, and then set it free.

Learning #3
I have all of the answers to my questions inside of me.

Learning #4
Expressing emotion, shadow and light, is the key to peeling back the layers of my protective shell.

Learning #5
Forgiveness of myself and others leaves more room in my heart for love.

Learning #6
Surrendering doesn’t equal weakness. Surrendering equals trust in myself and the universe.

Learning #7
Accepting the present moment, no matter what type of package it comes in, leads me to a state of peace.

Learning #8
When I soften my heart, my heart expands exponentially.

Learning #9
Through my most difficult journeys, I arrive at the end a more connected, more compassionate, and more wise being.

My hope is that as you read this, you will think about the past nine months of your own life and spiritual growth. What nine new understandings do you have about yourself and your world? Happy growing!
