Journal Writing Blogger Needs Your Vote for the Next Top Self Help Author Contest

Liz Gracia, one of the writers for this Seeds of Intentions journal writing  blog needs your help please. She is a contestant in the Next Top Self Help Author book writing contest. She has been setting her intentions and planting her seeds for this book to come into being. The experience she is about to share happened close to 8 years ago.

This contest came into her awareness and is the perfect venue for getting this book written…it provides structure, guidance and importantly…deadlines!!! Woo Hoo!

The contest is a 6 month process, four months of which requires each writer to perform certain tasks. The first month of the contest is a video about the authors’ book. Similar to American Idol, the publishers’ hosting the contest want to see votes and support for the book. It is not the only thing that advances an author here (because as we know law of attraction is always at work!), but it is one aspect of the judges consideration.

So..

Click here to view my “About the Book” video and VOTE for Me if you are so inspired!

Below is the video you will be viewing on the voting website:

Liz Gracia, A Unique Voice, Next Top Self help Author websiteLiz Gracia is an up and coming self help author now residing in Colorado. Her first nonfiction self help book is based on her true story of a quantum spiritual awakening that took place on the enchanting Island of Nantucket. It was over a period of 8 months during the year 2003 that this story unfolds. This compelling, magical and mystical story is the basis for her ability to provide self help and wisdom to all of us on the awakening process within and the realization of eternal connectedness and divinity.

Journal Writing Ideas from Famous Buddha Quotes

Famous Buddha Quotes, All that we are is the result of what we have thought..Today’s journal writing ideas and prompts are from a famous Buddha quote, “All that we are is the result of what we have thought. The mind is everything. What we think we become.”

Here’s my take on this quote:

The Law of Attraction is suggesting the very same thing. No matter what it is that you think about, positive or negative, you are creating those thoughts into an experience in your life. So, pay attention to where you are spending your time. What are you consistently thinking about? How are you consistently feeling while you are thinking these thoughts?

Did you know that you are emitting a vibration while you are thinking and feeling these thoughts? So what are they? If you are in a state of negative emotion and negative thought patterns, you are negatively creating the experience of your life.

If you are predominantly oriented in thinking about life in a positive direction, you are creating positive experiences for your life. If you take the time to see what it is your life has been, many of us will see that we are a mixed bag of the two, so our experiences are mixed.

Therefore, if you don’t like what you’ve created, take responsibility for your life. Take responsibility for your thoughts. Take responsibility for your feelings….and turn them around! Become the deliberate creator of your own life! When you come to the realization that you get everything that you get because you have “asked” for it “vibrationally”, you become the powerful creator of your own life experience now. For more on this topic, click here.

So, today’s journal writing ideas are this:

  • What aspects of your life do you tend to not take responsibility?
  • Can you catch yourself blaming others for things and turn it around?
  • Where do you want to start taking responsibility now in your life?
  • How can you go about doing this? What new thought can you have about this?

Using Inspirational Quotes As A Springboard To Journaling

I love reading inspirational quotes because the one or two sentences seem to hold a power  that seems to expand my heart and bring awareness to me. It’s like God is talking through those individuals and giving me a personal message.

Do you ever find that just when you need it,  inspirational quotes pop up in your world? You run across them in a magazine or newspaper, or a television personality speaks them on the morning news. This happens to me quite often, and because I believe that Spirit communicates in many ways and through the Law of Attraction I am bringing the message to me, I listen deeply and often use the quote as a catalyst for journal writing.

Here is one of Thich Nhat Hanh quotes that spoke to me today:

“Our own life has to be our message.”
— Thich Nhat Hanh (The World We Have: A Buddhist Approach to Peace and Ecology)

I reread these eight words many times thinking about what this means for me in my life right now….and here’s what I came up with in my writing journal.

The time has come for me to live each moment, live each breath, in a way that honors who I am.  I am not content to pretend so others are more comfortable.  I am not willing to set aside my heart’s desires until my early morning meditation.  No matter how I appear to the outside world, I must live my life from my place of knowing.  Then and only then can my life be my message to the world.  If I am not living authentically each moment, what I have to share with others will be veiled.  When I stand in my knowing, others will see to the very heart of my soul and my gifts will shine.

If you’re looking for a way to spice up your journal writing, try finding  inspirational quotes that are speaking to you and see what insights come.  You’ll be amazed at what surfaces!

Famous Mark Twain Quotes on Life, a Journal Writing Prompt

Famous Mark Twain quote on lifeHere’s a famous  Mark Twain Quote on Life, “Keep away from people who try to belittle your ambitions. Small people always do that, but the really great make you feel that you too can become great.”

For today’s journal writing prompts I encourage you to do the following:

  • Make a list of people who belittle your ambitions
  • Consider how you can stay away from them, if this is really what you want, or at least turn your subject matter with this person to something else. In fact make the belittler the focus of conversation  not you (as “small” people would tend to prefer themselves as the center of attention) and simply allow them to be without judgment.
  • Then get rid of this list. It’s simply for comparison and contrast.
  • Now make a list of all the people that support, love, encourage and honor you.
  • What is it that they support, love and honor you for.
  • Appreciate this and create a list of new things you want to be supported, loved, encouraged and honored for.

Now that you have your journal writing prompts, here’s my take on this quote on life from Mark Twain:

So, I do appreciate the message here, but I would make some modifications. The term “Small people” suggests superiority over another when I feel a more “evolved” or appropriate perspective on all of life is to appreciate that we are all at a different place in our conscious awareness. I would loosely define “small people” as those that do not appreciate our own level of perspective and awareness. They are not there yet and have a limited point of view….at this moment.

I love the analogy from “Conversations with God” books which says that if you appreciate that all of life is going through school at one level or another (and age has nothing to do with it), then you would not call someone “small” if you realized that they were still in nursery school on a subject while you were in high school on the same subject. You would simply appreciate and understand their perspective and allow them their way.

We all know who the “small people” are in our lives. It is best to keep your ambitions to yourself and share them only with those that support you. Vibrationally, those that support you are in alignment with your greatest potential and assist you in maintaining your alignment. “Small people” don’t help you and send your alignment “vibrationally” in the opposite direction.

Don’t give negative attention to those in your life that you would consider “small”. This is an invitation to only offer compassion and kindness and allow them to “be right”. This way of being is much more in alignment with who you really are and who you want to be. …again:

“Setting an example is not the main means of influencing others; it is the only means.”—Einstein

Simple Christmas Angels Make Personal and Inspirational Gifts

After meeting my Target Angel, read my post on our Law of Attraction blog,  I was inspired to make a visual journal called Christmas Angels.  This is the result of that chance meeting with an angel.  If you’d like to replicate this idea, all you need to do is find a printable angel or other image you’d like.  Clip and cut out tiny images or pieces of images that are calling to you and glue them together on the angel image.  Then paint your canvas any color you’d like and attach the visual journal angel.  Paint again over the top of the angel with a light color paint and a mixture of glue to seal the image in place.  Enjoy your inspired masterpiece.

These also make unique Christmas presents that will be personal and inspirational gifts your family and friends will love.  Attach a satin ribbon to hang and voila!

Happy creating!

Let Out the Old and Let In The New: Journal Writing Ideas for Releasing

Here’s quick writing journal ideas for letting out the old and letting in the new.  You’ll need two pieces of paper.  Two different colors are preferable.  On one of the pieces of paper make a list of all of the negative blocks you have in your life that you would like to release.   On the other remaining paper, write down those positive experiences you intend to create and be specific.  The clearer your intentions the easier they are to manifest.

Now, create a sacred space for you to release and let in.  You may want to light a luxury candle, put on beautiful healing music, burn incense, and/or say a prayer.  Hold the first piece of paper in your hand.  Send the energy of gratitude to the experiences you’re releasing.  Those negative blocks had lessons that were embedded in them and deserve acknowledgment.  Then in a fireplace or other safe space, light the “releasing paper” and send it back into the universe with love.

Finally, take the piece paper you wrote your intentions on.  Place it in a prominent place within your home or office.  It should be in a space that you can readily see and access.  Each day reread what you wrote and be reminded of those experiences you intend to bring into your life.

Happy releasing and joyous creating!

Beautiful Writing Journals Inspire Beautiful Writing

If you love to write like I love to write, one of your favorite moments might be when you’ve just finished a writing journal, and you get to pick out your next one. I tend to make decisions hastily sometimes, but not when it comes to selecting new writing journals.

My criteria is non-negotiable. First, my journal writing notebooks have to be the right size. I think I’ve got a Goldilocks complex. They can’t be too small because my penmanship is quite large. They can’t be too big because they won’t fit in my hands comfortably when I write in my favorite over-stuffed chair.

Secondly, writing journals have to have lines. Eighteen years as a school teacher modeling how to write on the lines is an old habit to break. Some people like the freedom of no lines, the rebel inside of them feels justified. Me? Give me lines any day!

The last criteria for new writing journals has to be the extrinsic beauty of them. I love to be inspired by the cover. The more girly the journal writing notebooks, the better. If writing journals have texture or sparkly additions, I am instantly mesmorized like a child to Christmas lights.

If it’s time for you to get new journal writing notebooks, please take a look at our great selection on our website. There are writing journals to inspire everyone. Don’t skimp on one of the most powerful tools for insight. Happy shopping! (If I was picking, the Butterfly journal would be my pick! Don’t tell anyone.)

Set Yourself Free

Light will someday split you open even if your life is now a cage.

Hafiz

Each one of us, I’m certain of it, has felt enclosed in the cage of life. Whether it’s being caged by negative thinking, caged by the past, or caged for some other reason, we have all experienced the sensation of being trapped. Guess what? We can set ourselves free as well! We can allow the light within us to split us open and release all the potential that has been hidden away. We can release the negative thinking. We can release our past. How do we do this? We do this by changing our thoughts. Our thoughts create our reality. Our thoughts create our sense of being caged or of being free. We can do this by living in the present. That means staying fully awake in this moment. For instance right now, as I’m writing this, I have awakened to birds chirping and the soft summer breeze blowing.
What are you waiting for? Open that cage door, fly free, and let the light engulf your whole being!

As a journal writing prompt, write down those things that make you feel like you’re enclosed in a cage.  Next, release those prisons by putting them in a bowl and burning them.   Then write from the perspective of being free from those thoughts that are holding you back.  For instance,  I might write, “My body image places me in a cage and holds me back.”  After I burn this, I might write, “I move easily through the world.  When I catch a glimpse of myself in the mirror, I love what I see.”

All You Need Is 5 Words- Simple Journal Writing Ideas

One of my favorite journal writing ideas to help with the journaling process is an activity I learned when I taught elementary school.  It was a tip for the reluctant writer in your classroom…we’ve all been there before right?  It’s truly simple and can be done in a variety of ways.

Here’s what you do:

  1. find your writing journals
  2. take a magazine (you can look through your favorite book, a newspaper, etc..) and randomly select five words
  3. don’t worry if they go together, just find words that are calling to you
  4. tear them out and put them in the order that most speaks to you
  5. that is the title for your journal entry
  6. spend 15-20 minutes journaling about that title and see what insight comes to you as you get out of your own way

This is what I was inspired to write after I selected my five words today:

Tough Stuff, Ultimate Rewards, Pure

The first thing that comes to my mind when I think about these five words is sometimes we’re handed some Tough Stuff in life.  Stuff that we’d rather not have to deal with.  Right now, I think my Tough Stuff relates to holding space for the aging process of my mother.  She is living with a form of Parkinson’s called Lewy Body Disease.  Tough?  I’d say!  She has gone from a spunky, energizer bunny to a weary although still spunky, forgetful, and often confused woman.  I would definitely rather not deal with this in my life or in hers.

The next two words, Ultimate Rewards, seems so contradictory next to Tough Stuff.  How do the words, Ultimate Rewards,  have anything to do with the things in life I’d rather not deal with right now.  Well, here’s my take on it.  Through my mom’s prognosis, although it’s been challenging, there are some Ultimate Rewards as well.  The first one that comes to mind is the reward of appreciation.  On the days my mother is spunky and says what’s on her mind, energized by a shopping trip to her favorite store, or even performing at an impromptu karoke night in my living room, I am overwhelmed by appreciation for that moment in time when my mother returns to her “normal self”.  That is an ultimate reward.   Another reward is the closeness that my family and I have experienced during this time.  We’ve said more loving and tender things the past few years than I can remember in the past forty. No one waits to say what needs to be said.  “I love you,” which was a rarity before is a frequent expression in my family.

The last word, Pure, makes me think that as we experience our Tough Stuff and receive the Ultimate Rewards a sense of purity of spirit and heart emerge.  It’s when I’m in the midst of Tough Stuff that my greatest Ultimate Rewards occur and my Pureness shines.

How’s that for a five word quick journal activity?  It’s amazing what a simple gesture can produce.  Happy writing!

Synopsis:

In 2004, thirteen Indigenous Grandmothers from all four corners, moved by their concern for our planet, came together at a historic gathering, where they decided to form an alliance: The International Council of Thirteen Indigenous Grandmothers. This is their story. Four years in-the-making and shot on location in the Amazon rainforest, the mountains of Mexico, North America, and at a private meeting with the Dalai Lama in India, For the Next 7 Generations follows what happens when these wise women unite. Facing a world in crisis, they share with us their visions of healing and a call for change now, before it’s too late. This film documents their unparalleled journey and timely perspectives on a timeless wisdom.

Grandmother’s Mission Statement:

“We, the International Council of 13 Indigenous Grandmothers, represent a global alliance of prayer, education and healing for our Mother Earth, all her inhabitants, all the children, and for the next seven generations to come. We are deeply concerned with the unprecedented destruction of our Mother Earth and the destruction of indigenous ways of life. We believe the teachings of our ancestors will light the way through an uncertain future. We look to further our vision through the realization of projects that protect our diverse cultures: lands, medicines, language and ceremonial ways of prayer and through projects that educate and nurture our children.”
